The Oracle of Skin

The Oracle of Skin is a manifestation of an ongoing exploration of the artist’s relationship with her skin as affected by psoriasis, a condition that causes the skin to regenerate at an accelerated pace. This process mirrors the many layers of artistic investigations around skin that the artist has undertaken over the years. At a certain point, she felt lost in the labyrinth of these explorations. To regain clarity, she distilled their various aspects into forty archetypes which she converted into a personal oracle deck of cards. This body of work translates some of those archetypes into clay forms, paired with drawings of the corresponding cards. Together, they explore skin as a site of renewal, meaning, and divination.
